Designed for faculty and designers who are not in formal leadership positions, this session encourages attendees to grow ideas, lead from where they are, and increase innovation at their institutions. Presenters will share a toolkit for communicating and increasing innovation.
Our transition from Blackboard to Canvas was a big undertaking. On top of that, I was the relatively new hire who was to help boost the Quality Matters program at our university. I will share the six lessons I learned from our LMS transition and how these lessons affected our QM program.
Imagine that you are at your first day in a new college course. What is the first thing you look over? Without a doubt, it is the course syllabus, the provided road map of every course that has the innate ability to make or break a student's experience. More specifically, the assignments required are what we are essentially drawn to and focus in on throughout a course. Are they interesting? Are they confusing? Are they overwhelming?
Hypothesis / Research Questions: We believe active learning theory offers effective methods to further student learning and educational satisfaction. Our question we look to answer: Which active learning methods do students perceive to increase their learning and satisfaction? Purpose of Research: To determine student perceptions of active learning methods in the online modality, and to assess which active learning methods are preferred by students. We look to add to the wealth of knowledge concerning active learning with attention given to the online modality.

The amount of research on online learning and quality assurance accumulates faster than anyone can keep up with it. In this session, attendees will get a summary of recent research findings on some of today's hot topics related to online learning and quality assurance to see beyond the buzz.
A state university’s vision and strategy to create a campus-wide QA culture will be presented. Based on a 3 year case study, participants will be introduced to a new proposed online instructional design system and the results of the data analysis.
The main objective of this presentation is to share and demonstrate how online instructors can design and transform exams in science courses from the paper-pencil format to online assessments that truly measure students' learning outcomes while ensuring academic integrity and meeting QM Standards.
