Pilot’s Log: Getting Our Professional Development Course QM Recognized

Description

Quality Matters has recently created and piloted a new rubric for continuing education and professional development courses. As part of the pilot program, the Center for eLearning submitted an online professional development course for recognition. This course is called the eLearning Designer/Facilitator Certification (EDFC) course, and the faculty who take it are assisted by instructional designers in creating new online courses. Successful completion of the EDFC course leads to an internal certification as an online course designer and facilitator as well as access to other Center for eLearning opportunities. The EDFC course was the first course ever to be QM recognized using the new rubric for quality professional development. In this presentation, the Center for eLearning will discuss QM review experiences and “lessons learned” from this process. Steps taken in order to develop the EDFC course and to get it ready for QM review will be outlined. Attendees will be assisted in creating an effective plan for implementing the rubric and getting prepared for possible QM submission for their professional development courses.
