About the Author

Dr. Steven Crawford is the District Director for the Maricopa Center for Learning and Innovation at the Maricopa County Community College District. In this role, he oversees the Arizona Statewide QM Consortium. Dr. Crawford has over 20 years of experience designing and delivering synchronous and asynchronous online programs and currently teaches as an adjunct faculty member. 

As an instructional designer, Dr. Crawford has worked with faculty to create and scale online programs using best practices. His interests include educational technologies, multimedia, and emerging technologies such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence. He is also interested in approaches to course design that effectively leverage blended, HyFlex, and synchronous online learning environments. In addition, Steven serves on the Quality Matters Academic Advisory Committee.

Dr. Crawford holds an M.S.Ed. in Instruction Design and Technology from Old Dominion University and an Ed.D. in Leadership and Innovation from Arizona State University.
